Are Your Drugs Infected With COVID-19 Virus?

Amidst the ongoing pandemic of Corona Virus, scientifically known as COVID-19, a social media post from the Police department in Florida has started making rounds of the internet for a seemingly unusual service, “Free Heroin Testing.”

The current chaos across the globe warrants extra precautions and necessary healthcare steps to be taken to stay safe from COVID-19. However, an awesome post on the social media captured everyone’s attention when the Atlantic Beach Police Department share their intention of offering free drug testing for those who recently purchased illegal drugs in the area.

Yes. The police department said that they would “test” the illegal drugs, such as cocaine, meth, and heroin, for the presence of the coronavirus, free of cost at their police station.

A Northeast Florida police department shared a public service announcement on February 28th, 2020 on their Facebook page, that they are worried about the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, and they would like to offer their drug testing services free of cost to all those who are currently in possession of illegal and controlled substances across the state.

The post read:

“Public Service Announcement: WARNING: if you have recently purchased cocaine, meth, heroin, or any other street drugs locally, it may be contaminated with the Corona Virus. Please bring the drugs to the police department, and we will test them for free. If you’re not comfortable coming to the police department, we will send an officer to your house, and they’ll test your illegal drugs in the privacy of your home! Please spread the word!”

The post was ended in a rather conspicuous series of emojis, which indicated that this was merely a joke. However, the entire situation rose to a whole new level when the local law enforcement authorities started offering similar services even outside the Atlantic beach.

While some argue that the post is merely a façade to lure the drug abusers, others contest that this may actually be a “Don’t kiss, Don’t’ tell” kind of service where the authorities are only interested in the overall wellbeing of the community and are willing to turn a blind eye during the crisis.

Since the creation of the post, it has been shared over 1500 times already, and it is making the rounds of the internet. We just have to wait and see if people actually show up for their florida drug and alcohol test free, and how the police officers handle it.
